Former NBA Star Lonnie Walker IV Joins Brooklyn Nets on One-Year Deal

Lonnie Walker IV, a former Reading High School basketball player, has agreed to a one-year contract with the Brooklyn Nets, as first reported by ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

Walker, 24, spent last season with the Los Angeles Lakers after playing his first four NBA seasons with the San Antonio Spurs. The shooting guard had a good start to the season with Los Angeles before suffering a knee injury in late December.

Struggling to regain his role after missing nearly a month, Walker’s star shone brightest in the postseason when he turned in a breakout performance to help the Lakers defeat the Golden State Warriors in the Western Conference semifinals.

Walker resurfaced during the postseason. His brightest moment came in Game 4 of the Western Conference semifinals against the Golden State Warriors, when he scored 15 points in the fourth quarter to give the Lakers a commanding 3-1 series lead.

Walker, a former first-round pick out of Miami, will join the rebuilding Nets on a $6.5 million contract.
