Football: Parisian Cher Ndour’s Italy wins Euro U19

The Italian campaign had started badly, in this Euro U19, especially in the group stage where the Azzurrini had been crushed by Portugal (5-1). The teammates of Cher Ndour, new recruit from Paris Saint-Germain in the midfield, took a resounding revenge by winning, this Sunday, the Euro under 19 against this same Lusitanian opponent on the lawn of Ta’Qali Malta National Stadium (1-0).

Fiorentina defender Michael Kayode scored the only goal of the match, on a magnificent cross from Juventus midfielder Luis Hasa (19th). The neo-Parisian Cher Ndour played a little over an hour during this final, and collected a yellow card just before half-time.

The 18-year-old midfielder scored a goal in this competition, in the group stage against Malta, in a match won 4-0 by the Italians. Passed by all the categories of young people in Italy, from U15 to U20, Ndour had been recalled as reinforcement by the U19 selection for the tournament.

Cher Ndour signed a five-year contract with Paris Saint-Germain on July 12, having arrived free of any contract from Benfica. He only played one minute as a pro with the Lisbon club.
