Football Leaks Creator Rui Pinto Faces New Charges Ahead of Trial Decision

Charge known about a week before Football Leaks trial decision

The Public Ministry (MP) accused Rui Pinto, creator of Football Leaks, of 377 crimes related to accessing emails from Benfica and other clubs, Liga, companies, lawyers, judges, prosecutors, Tax Authority and National Internal Security Network.

According to the order of indictment, advanced this Friday by Saturday and to which Lusa also had access, 202 crimes of illegitimate access, 134 of violation of correspondence, 23 of aggravated violation of correspondence and 18 of aggravated damage are at stake, in a total of 377 crimes attributed to Rui Pinto.

The accusation in this new case comes about a week after Rui Pinto hears the decision of the Football Leaks trial, on the next 13th, in which he is responsible for 90 crimes: 68 of undue access, 14 of violation of correspondence, six of access illegitimate, targeting entities such as Sporting, Doyen, the law firm PLMJ, the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) and the Attorney General’s Office (PGR), and also for computer sabotage of Sporting’s SAD and for extortion, in attempted form.
