Five Current NFL Players Who Are Hall of Fame Contenders

The NFL Hall of Fame: a place everyone wants to be, but which has very (very very) restricted entry. As we saw in this year’s list, there are many talented names that end up being left out, some even not getting their golden jacket even after several attempts. Excluding quarterbacks to make the selection more interesting, we chose five current players who are clear candidates to enter the pantheon of the sport when they end their careers. Remembering that only names that are under contract were considered.

Aaron Donald

Probably the first name that came to your mind, reader, when you saw the title of the text. Talking about Donald is easy: champion, reference for his position, unstoppable on the field and, arguably, the most dominant player of the last decade exceeding the position of quarterback.

In the first year of eligibility, there’s no doubt that Aaron will get the gold jacket, as he’s done everything possible for the position, pushing the bar too high. There are three defender of the year awards, presence in the “team of the past decade”, seven selections to the All-Pro first team and, to crown it, the champion ring of the 2022 season. little, depending on how much Donald decides to continue playing.

By Miller

Another defensive lineman makes the list. Miller is a case in point: Dominant at all things positional, he was able to bounce back at a high level even after a season-lost injury, involving a team switch in the middle of it all.

Twice Super Bowl champion, being MVP of the final in one of them, Von is an example of constancy and technical refinement. After being champion alongside Donald, he joined the Buffalo Bills to be a key player to lead the team to the title and had a great year, before an injury that took him out of the season. In 2023, he expects to see him at the top once again, confirming his path towards the pantheon of athletes.

Travis Kelce

Living in the same era as Rob Gronkowski overshadowed Travis Kelce’s early days a bit, but his dominance in the role today is unbelievable. Not only is he the best tight end in the league, he’s one of the best offensive weapons in the entire NFL. You know where he’s going and what he’s going to do, but still, it’s impossible to tag him. How many times have the Kansas City Chiefs been in trouble, but the Patrick Mahomes connection has come like magic?

Even at the current pace, it is possible that Kelce will reach Tony Gonzalez’s mark and become the tight end with the most receiving yards in league history (maintaining an average of 1200 yards per season, he would pass in four years). His All-Pros, titles and performances would grow even bigger alongside it.

Bobby Wagner

Reference in the position, defensive leader and champion in one of the best groups in history. For more than a decade, Wagner takes the field and presents a very high level, even with all the changes that the linebacker position has undergone over the years. Closing the gap, reading the offense, giving instructions to teammates, attacking the quarterback, cutting the pass line: he can do it all.

With an incredible six first-team All-Pro selections—plus three more second-team selections—Bobby looks like an eternal young man playing. Even in the disappointing 2022 Los Angeles Rams, he was full of quality. Back with the Seattle Seahawks, his training team, he is heading for a glorious career final stretch, to secure his gold jacket when he retires.

Zack Martin

Talking about offensive linemen is always more difficult, but Martin is a case in point. A monster at the position since his freshman year – already in his rookie season he was All-Pro, the first of six selections – Zack exudes a confidence that is rarely seen in any role in the game. That’s just 11 sacks conceded in nine years of career, very few injuries and, an unusual fact, a name that fans remember when they mention talented players.

Like Joe Thomas recently, Martin is more of an offensive lineman who is sure to be a Hall of Fame selection in his first year of eligibility.
