Felix Gall king of the queen step

Felix Gall (AG2R-Citroën) won the 17th stage of the Tour de France in Courchevel. Jonas Vingegaard almost Tour won after the failure of Tadej Pogacar.

Tuesday, after the time trial, the suspense had already taken a hit. This Wednesday, after the queen stage of the Tour de France, he is completely dead. Fourth in Courchevel, Jonas Vingegaard did the hardest part… without it being his fault. Fallen at the start of the stage, Tadej Pogacar was probably too physically affected to try anything. The Slovenian dropped very early in the high percentages of the Col de la Loze. This evening, the Slovenian is still second in the general classification… but more than 7 minutes behind the Dane. The UAE Team Emirates formation still has a slight smile. Adam Yates consolidates his third place overall.

Wounded, Pogacar exploded

A stage won by Felix Gall, after a day spent at the front of the race. The AG2R-Citroën rider was part of a breakaway of around thirty riders, including Guillaume Martin, Julian Alaphilippe, Valentin Madouas, Thibaut Pinot and David Gaudu. A group of fugitives who could count on a maximum capital of 3 minutes, but who knew how to manage their effort to keep their strength in sight of the Col de la Loze.

A terrible climb where Felix Gall attacked very early. Only Simon Yates managed to navigate a few hundred meters, without ever being able to come back to the Austrian. The rider from the AG2R-Citroën team won his very first victory in the Tour… and is getting closer to a best climber’s polka dot jersey which will be one of the rare challenges at the end of the Grande Boucle.
