After Uli Hoeneß, Herbert Hainer has now also publicly commented on a possible Kane move to FC Bayern. Ultimately, that meant trouble.

Tokyo – FC Bayern Munich has landed in Tokyo and is now preparing for the new season on its trip to Asia. The big question is: will one or two newcomers join coach Thomas Tuchel’s team in the Far East? There are always rumors about Kyle Walker and Harry Kane.

Born:28. July 1993 (age 29) in Walthamstow Contract with Tottenham Hotspur until: June 2024 Market value (according to transfermarkt.de): 90 million euros Position: center forward

Bayern’s kane poker continues in Asia

The latter in particular will be an extremely important building block on the way to old strength for Bayern. Bayern could not compensate for the departure of top scorer Robert Lewandowski – the past season was correspondingly restless. A clear number nine is therefore the number one transfer target for Bayern bosses. And there is little better in the world than that Kane.

Most recently, Honorary President Uli Hoeneß had already gone massively on the offensive and had publicly commented on the rumors surrounding the Tottenham striker. Tuchel had blocked all questions shortly before because he didn’t want to talk about players from other clubs. That was exactly what the internal plan was: Don’t cause a stir, don’t annoy the other side, just hold back.

FC Bayern with the next step in the Kane faux pas? First Hoeneß, now Hainer

And then Uli came. In the aftermath, there was already a lot of discussion as to whether Hoeneß had done Bayern a favor with his statements. The debates have hardly ended when the next high-ranking Bayern official comes around the corner with new statements from Kane and may put his foot in it: Herbert Hainer!

On the sidelines of the Asia trip, the president emphasized the importance of a superstar transfer for the entire Bundesliga. “Harry Kane is definitely a highly attractive player, England captain, top scorer. In that respect it would be good for us and the Bundesliga. No question.” Statements that are sure to be registered in London. Most recently, Tottenham coach Ange Postecoglou reacted angrily to the Hoeneß sentences.

Kane negotiations are ongoing: FC Bayern is probably planning talks this week

Hainer followed suit: FC Bayern “of course keep trying to get stars to make us better as a team, but also to make the Bundesliga more attractive to the outside world”. At the moment, the Bundesliga “doesn’t have as many international stars anymore. Of course, how the Bundesliga markets itself internationally also plays a part in this.”

Bayern CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen and Technical Director Marco Neppe did not fly to Japan to conduct further negotiations with Tottenham President Daniel Levy over the next few days about the 100 million deal. Spicy: Tottenham owner Joe Lewis recently called for Kane to be sold if he didn’t extend to Spurs. The contract expires in June 2024.

Guardiola also talks about the Bayern rumors about Harry Kane

In addition to Hoeneß and Hainer, another football heavyweight has commented on the subject of Kane: Pep Guardiola. “Bayern always want the best players in the world. Harry Kane is one of them. But he’s not my player,” said the former Munich coach about the speculation about Kane. Guardiola meets Bayern Munich in a friendly with Champions League winners Manchester City on Wednesday (12:30 p.m. CEST, all TV information about the broadcast) in Tokyo.

On the fringes of the game, the future of City defender Kyle Walker should also be discussed. According to media reports, Bayern have already reached an agreement with Walker. “I know that both clubs are in contact, we will fight for him – and I’m sure Bayern will do the same,” said Guardiola. It’s quite possible that that walker will become Bayern’s trump card in Kane Poker. The two Englishmen have known and appreciated each other for a long time. If it works, Hoeneß and Hainer should be happy too. (acl/dpa)
