FC Bayern paid 80 million euros for Lucas Hernández. He could hardly live up to expectations. Now the Frenchman is moving to Paris and saying goodbye to the Munich fans on Instagram. Mehmet Scholl is clear under the post.

He’s full of anticipation. Not only that, Lucas Hernández sees himself in top form for his new football chapter at Paris Saint-Germain. “I’m 100 percent fit now,” said the 27-year-old in his first club interview for PSG after leaving Bayern Munich.

Hernández tore his cruciate ligament at the World Cup in Qatar and hasn’t played a game since. “I’m looking forward to the first day of training and to being at my best with my teammates. My knee is fine and everything is going very well,” said the France international.

Both clubs officially made the long-awaited transfer on Sunday. “I came here to learn, but also and above all to win trophies. As many as I can,” Hernández said. After stints at Atlético Madrid and FC Bayern, the 2018 world champion is now playing in his home country.

For 80 million euros from Madrid

In Paris, Hernández is looking forward to seeing his national team-mates Presnel Kimpembe and Kylian Mbappé again. “They are friends to me. I spoke to them a lot before I came here. I’m very happy to join them and become their team-mate at club level,” said the centre-back, whose departure from Munich also caused a stir.

Mehmet Scholl, who once played for FC Bayern himself, caused a stir with a short sentence. The former international wrote under a farewell message from the French national soccer player on Instagram: “I don’t believe a word you say.” He also wrote: “Byebye.” Herzen” from Bayern to Paris: “Lastly, I ask you to respect my decision, even if goodbyes are always difficult.”
