“I knew why I was going there, and that I was not going to start or have the ball all the time in hand as it could be the case in Europe. I knew my role was going to be different. In this sense, I evolved as a player, analyzing more the situations in which I was going to find myself, trying to see the role that I could play, to be the best player in relation to what the coach expected of me,” did he declare.
Facundo Campazzo was not in the right place at the right time
While he tried everything to stay in the NBA, here he is back “at home”, at Real Madrid, with whom he won the Euroleague twice. Facundo Campazzo is at peace with his career in the NBA even if he didn’t miss much to make more of his hole despite his atypical profile (1m78). “I knew it was going to be a very competitive league and that many factors would play a role in getting a place and whether or not to play: the luck factor, finding a team that needs your game”he added. “It’s a roller coaster, you always have to be ready. I tried to put my energy into the things I could control, like impacting the game when it was my turn and otherwise being ready when the coach called my name (…). I wanted to try one more year in the NBA and it turned out that the Mavs cut me after a month and a half”.
