With this victory for the Dutch star -who added the extra point by setting the fastest lap-, Red Bull broke the all-time record for consecutive wins in McLaren Formula One, which in 1988 won the first eleven of that year. The seven-time English champion Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes), who had started from pole position, finished fourth, one position ahead of the other McLaren, that of Australian Oscar Piastri. The other Mercedes, that of Englishman George Russell, finished sixth at the Hungaroring, one place ahead of Monegasque Charles Leclerc (Ferrari), who qualified ahead of his Spanish teammate and the Asturian double world champion. Canadian Lance Stroll, Alonso’s teammate at Aston Martin, finished tenth and captured the last point at stake.
