Chairman of PSSI Erick Thohir open voice about a number of players Indonesian National team who are members of the police force.

Erick Thohir stated that the process of a number of U-20 Indonesian national team players becoming police officers began with a meeting at the Merdeka Palace. The follow-up meeting was then the real step at this time.

“Indeed, at that time there was a meeting at the Merdeka Palace, the president offered what the country could provide after the sea games. There it was stated that there were those who wanted to join the TNI, police, ASN and BUMN.”

“Of course there is a procedure whether he enters there is a procedure, of course it’s a risk because it’s impossible when there is a desire to join but it’s back again. So that this hero gets another chance in the future,” said Erick Thohir in a press conference session in Jakarta, Tuesday (25/7).

Erick Thohir said that PSSI would examine and discuss further about the players who were members of the police. The reason is they have to undergo education for five months and that makes it difficult for them to join the training camp for the AFC U-23 Qualification and the Asian Games.

“Let’s give it a chance first, will there be talks with the police without destroying the system. The point is that there shouldn’t be entrusted players, including for the police.”

“We don’t want it to end up undermining the police system. But we will try to make it happen without dispensation, but I can’t decide. We will find a way,” said Erick Thohir.

Erick Thohir also reminded that each player has their own dream. That’s why the desire of a number of players to become police cannot be intervened.

“Returning to the players who were summoned, it’s a choice that must be supported because each has an interest. It’s not the players who refuse to play in the national team, but they have dreams of becoming police and soldiers, we can’t intervene.”

“We must respect each other, democracy is like that. I’m sure there is a way out, of course there is a higher national interest,” said Erick Thohir.

A total of nine Indonesian national team players entered as members of the Indonesian National Police. They are Ginanjar Wahyu (Arema FC), Frengky Missa (Persikabo 1973), Kakang Rudianto (Persib Bandung), Ananda Raehan (PSM Makassar), Dimas Juliano Pamungkas (Bhayangkara FC), Rabbani Tasnim Siddiq (RANS Nusantara FC), Daffa Fasya Sumawijaya (Borneo FC), Muhammad Faiz Maulana (Bhayangkara FC), Muhammad Ferrari (Persija) and will attend school for five months.
