“Dear director,
tens of thousands of people for two days (but not the Romans, because otherwise, perhaps, things would have gone differently) they breathe shit that these gentlemen are making us breathe after the fire from a waste treatment plant that everyone is now discovering exists.
Two days of miasma, stench, red eyes, sore throat. What are they making us breathe?
Can you tell what is burning?
And even more: how the hell does it take to put out the fire of a landfill (because this is what we’re talking about)? I see the photos you post: I see many good firefighters who mainly use water, civil protection volunteers with hands that are good for putting out cigarettes. But are we sure we are equipped for emergencies like these?
Are we sure that the means and resources are adequate to deal with situations like these that are now cyclically repeated?
The fact is that no one has explained well what happened, no one has told us why for two days we’ve been forced to hope that the wind will blow the other way, otherwise we’ll have to close the windows and die of heat in the house.
But why?
Dear Director, I’m afraid that once again it will end as usual: that is, that at the end of the carousel nobody will be to blame. That we’ve been breathing shit for days, that we’ve spent tens of thousands of euros of public money on rescue operations, and that, in short, that’s okay.
