Together with her partner Benjamin de Bruijn, Van Dijk is expecting a first child in September. Due to her pregnancy, she also has to miss the upcoming World Championship time trial in Glasgow. So she cannot follow herself, but with a wink and a beautiful photo on social media, she shows that she can live with that: “The preparations for the World Cup next month are going smoothly.”

Van Dijk is aiming for a comeback in 2024, after a deserved maternity leave of course. She also has one big goal: to win a medal at the Olympic Games in Paris. “The team was open to the combination of starting a family and trying to get a medal in Paris. That is incredibly heartwarming,” said Van Dijk when she announced her pregnancy.
