Eintracht Frankfurt starts training with too many professionals

The new season of Eintracht starts this Monday with the performance tests of the players. What may she bring? A question that cannot be answered seriously without looking into a reliable fortune-telling ball – we advise against the offers on Ebay between 17 and 45 euros.

What do we know? Eintracht has a new coach! That could mean progress compared to the past season. Without denying Oliver Glasner’s qualities and merits, the relationship with parts of the team and especially with sports director Markus Krösche was strained in the last few weeks of his work on the Main and caused a loss of energy. Dino Toppmöller gave a convincing impression during his presentation, also professionally.

Tiresome water level reports

But above all, he won the audience over with how refreshingly he communicated his great desire and his anticipation of the task in Frankfurt. If he knows how to transfer it to the team, his empathy will have an invigorating effect. Especially with the younger professionals. Loss of friction between the coach and the sporting leadership is unimaginable at first, the protagonists know and appreciate each other immensely since their times together at RB Leipzig.

Whether the squad will be stronger or weaker can only be judged once the transfer period has ended on September 1st. Above all, it depends on whether Randal Kolo Muani will stay in Frankfurt for another year or whether he will have left the club. It’s not only tiring for sports director Krösche to keep saying something about the state of affairs in this case, which hasn’t changed for months: Kolo Muani has a valid contract until mid-2027 and hasn’t even said he wants to leave Eintracht.

Eintracht doesn’t want to sell Kolo Muani, and they don’t have to sell him out of financial distress either. She would only agree to a transfer of the Frenchman if the club in question were willing to pay a horrendous transfer fee and Kolo Muani also wanted to join this club. It is not clear where Eintracht starts “horrendously”, whether at 80, 90, 100 or 110 million euros.

But Krösche admitted to the FAZ that there is of course a sum that it would be unreasonable to refuse. Because the risk of a loss in value in the event of a serious injury to the striker is too great. So far, however, not a single offer for Kolo Muani has arrived at Eintracht, not too low, not from the wrong club – not at all! So let’s wait and see if that changes.

Eintracht, i.e. sports director Krösche and his sports director Timmo Hardung, have not waited, but have already pushed the personnel planning for the new season relatively far. With Robin Koch and Ellyes Skhiri, experienced and established professionals have recently been signed, like Philipp Max (permanent position after a loan) and Omar Marmoush. Eintracht also invested in young professionals such as Pacho, Larsson, Bautista, Knauff and Ebimbe. What is still missing is an improvement on the left flank.

As of now, the squad is too big, especially since another loan player has returned in Jens Petter Hauge. There are currently 39 professionals on the payroll. Krösche announced that this would not remain the case. The first candidates for sale are Lindström, Sow, Lenz, Alario, Borré. A lot will change before the serious side of football life begins again for Frankfurt on August 13 with the cup game against Lok Leipzig. But one thing can be said. Eintracht does not have to tremble about the future in these hot July days.
