Badminton players Debora Jille and Cheryl Seinen have grabbed the gold in women’s doubles at the European Games in Krakow. The duo lost in the final of the European Championship to Stefani and Gabriela Stojeva: 7-21, 17-21.

The two Bulgarian sisters, three-time European champions, did not give the Dutch couple a chance in both sets. In the second set, 23-year-old Jille and Seinen, who was four years older, came back nicely to 14-16, but that was all they could do.

Seinen seized gold at the 2019 European Games alongside Selena Piek and also won bronze at the European Championships with the Blaricumse. Jille has never before won a medal in women’s doubles at a title tournament.

Piek reached the final of the mixed doubles together with Robin Tabeling by beating the Danish couple Alexandra Bøje/Mathias Christiansen (21-14, 21-13). On Sunday, the Orange double will compete against the French Thom Gicquel and Delphine Delrue for the gold.
