Donny van de Beek could just be in Spain. According to Noticias de Gipuzkoa, Real Sociedad is working on the arrival of the Manchester United midfielder. In the Basque Country, one would aim for a rental construction with a purchase option of ten million euros.
There is no agreement yet between United and Sociedad. However, both clubs are in talks about the conditions under which Van de Beek should be allowed to move to LaLiga. The contract of the 26-year-old Dutchman runs until the summer of 2025.
Van de Beek made the switch from Ajax to Manchester United in the summer of 2020 for 39 million euros. At The Red Devils, however, he never managed to conquer a starting place. Halfway through his second season he was even rented out to Everton – without much success. The arrival of trainer Erik ten Hag, with whom he worked successfully at Ajax, also did not cause a turnaround last summer. Van de Beek only played sparingly until a serious knee injury in January put an end to the rest of his season.

Although Van de Beek did not without merit rejoin the selection of Ten Hag in preparation for the coming season, Manchester United would still like to cooperate in a departure. According to transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano, the salary space that would result from a transfer from Van de Beek could be used to bring Sofyan Amrabat to the club after all.
Van de Beek was previously associated in England with a return to Ajax. An asking price of more than 23 million euros was mentioned. Van de Beek would even have decided that a second period in the Johan Cruijff Arena would be the best step, but Sociedad could also be an interesting option. After the final departure of David Silva, a place in midfield has become available in the number four of last season, where Van de Beek should come into its own with his qualities.
