District Officials and Athletes Honored with Silver and Gold Sports Medals in Linz

Committed officials and athletes from the district could look forward to sports badges of honor in silver and gold.

DISTRICT, LINZ. The State Sports Medal was recently awarded in Linz by State Councilor Markus Achleitner (ÖVP). Across Upper Austria, 62 athletes and officials received the gold medal, 75 silver medals. “Each individual has honestly earned this award through their special commitment to sport in Upper Austria,” says Achleitner.

Six honors in the district

A total of six officials and active athletes from the Braunau district received awards. Anton Bamberger (TSV Mattighofen), Helmut Berrer (TTC Friedburg), Reinhold Brenner (Schützenclub Mining) and Alois Saucherlachner (ATSV Ranshofen) received the sports medal in gold, Erwin Dicker (ASKÖ Überackern) and Monika Kronberger (Judo-Union Burgkirchen/ Schwandt) accepted the medal of honor in silver.

Decades of Merit

Anton Bamberger has been an instructor in the judo association since 1976 and has been the deputy examination officer in the state of Upper Austria for 23 years. Helmut Berrer has been with “his” Friedburg table tennis club as chairman and deputy for more than 20 years.
Reinhold Brenner has been the club chairman of the Schützenclub Mining since 2003.
Alois Sauerlachner has been a member of ATSV Ranshofen since 1974 and is particularly involved in the weightlifting section. He has been Vice-President of the regional association there since 2001 and organizes the Günther Stapfer Memorial Tournament, an international tournament for young people, every year. “Every day, many compatriots do valuable work in our 2,400 clubs. Sport is a school of life and the basis for a healthy and active life,” says Provincial Councilor Markus Achleitner.
