Di Francesco will coach promoted Frosinone in Serie A

The former Roma coach will revive on the bench of the last Serie B champion.

Italian coach Eusebio Di Francesco, ex-technician of AS Roma who remains on three failures in Serie A, will try to revive himself on the bench of promoted Frosinone, the Italian club announced on Saturday. Di Francesco, 53, has signed a contract that binds him to Frosinone until June 30, 2024, “with an optional year in case of maintenance“Wrote on its website the club located in Lazio, about 90 kilometers southeast of Rome.

Di Francesco had been without a club since September 2021, when he was ousted by Hellas Verona after just three league games. This eviction extended a bad series for the Italian coach, already dismissed prematurely the two previous seasons, by Sampdoria after seven days in 2019/20 then by Cagliari after 23 days of competition in 2020/21.

These three failures have tarnished the image of a coach hitherto hailed for his game, especially when he led Sassuolo (2012/January 2014 then March 2014/2017) and AS Roma (2017/19). He notably took the Giallorossi to the semi-finals of the Champions League in 2018, after a feat against FC Barcelona in the quarterfinals (1-4, 3-0). Frosinone, Serie B champion last season, will play his third season in the top flight. He will aim to maintain, a goal missed during his first attempts in Serie A, in 2015/16 then 2018/19.
