Deloitte Announces Team of Elite Athletes for Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games

Worldwide Olympic Partner Deloitte introduced its Team Deloitte, an inspiring team of 25 elite athletes – including 19 company professionals as well as former employees and sponsored athletes – that it will support on the road to the Olympic and Paralympic Games of Paris 2024.

From established stars to promising newcomers, Team Deloitte includes 12 Olympians and four Paralympians, as well as a large number of athletes vying for their first appearance in the Olympic or Paralympic Games. These diverse athletes from around the world represent 14 countries in 15 different sports – from rowing to paracanoe, from field hockey to sailing, to the new Olympic sport of breaking.

With 19 business professionals represented, Team Deloitte’s selection for Paris 2024 marks the first time that a global Olympic partner has been able to support so many of its own employees on their journey to the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

“Ahead of Paris 2024, we are very pleased to introduce Team Deloitte, an extraordinary group of Deloitte professionals who lead dual careers as elite athletes and exemplify the unique qualities required to succeed in both sport and in business. We are delighted to support them on their journey to qualify for Paris 2024,” said Joe Ucuzoglu, President and CEO of Deloitte.

Team Deloitte athletes include Olympic champions Félix Denayer, Alexander Purnell and Abe Wiersma, as well as Paralympic champions Curtis McGrath and Pieter du Preez. Félix Denayer, who has competed in four editions of the Olympic Games, was part of the Belgian field hockey team that won gold at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games and silver at Rio 2016. Australian rower Alexander Purnell was part of the part of the coxless quad team that won gold in Tokyo, while Abe Wiersma also made the podium in Tokyo as a member of the Dutch quad team and was crowned champion world in 2019. At the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games, Curtis McGrath made history by becoming the first Paracanoe athlete to win two gold medals at the Paralympic Games. As for Pieter Du Preez, he won the men’s H1 time trial at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games and was the first quadriplegic to complete an Ironman.

Singaporean sailor Kimberly Lim, a three-time Asian Games gold medalist, and Canadian Tiffany Leung, who will try to qualify for the first Olympic breaking competition, are also part of the team.

Seven athletes are hoping to make their Olympic and Paralympic Games debut, including Ingibjörg Grétarsdóttir (Iceland, taekwondo), Charalambos Charalambous (Cyprus, archery) and Ian Dors (USA, paratriathlon).

Deloitte joined the Olympic Partners Program (TOP Program) in 2022, forming “a purpose-driven partnership” that leverages its business acumen to help the IOC realize the opportunities presented by Olympic Agenda 2020+5, the strategic roadmap for the future of the Olympic Movement, and its vision of building a better world through sport.
