Dak Prescott’s Urgency to Win a Super Bowl Heightens as He Approaches 30

Dak Prescott, quarterback for the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys, acknowledged this Saturday that being close to turning 30 increases his urgency to win a Super Bowl as soon as possible.

“A thousand percent (his desire to win a Super Bowl), because looking at the injuries and what I’ve been throughout my career, I understand that you don’t have forever to play this game and win. I am blessed with every moment I have, but of course I take it with a sense of urgency,” said Prescott, who will turn 30 on July 29.

The quarterback born in Sulfur, Louisiana, in 1993 has been in the NFL for seven years with the Dallas Cowboys, a team that drafted him in the fourth round of the 2016 Draft.

The weight of Cowboys legends

The two-time Pro Bowl selection outpasses the two greatest legends of the Lone Star team at quarterback, Roger Staubach and Troy Aikman, with the difference that Staubach led the Cowboys to win the first two. Super Bowls in its history, and Aikman the next three, to complete the five that the franchise has.

Hence the challenge that he will face in the 2023 season of breaking a 28-year streak for Dallas without reaching a final for the National Conference (NFC) title and therefore a Super Bowl.

“It’s fun and challenging. I stay connected and I think it’s great to enter my eighth season. This game is beautiful no matter how old you are because you play it as if you were an excited child,” she explained.

New stage as a mentor

Additionally, Prescott takes on the responsibility of guiding the youth to lead the team to its first Super Bowl in the 21st century.

“I have always felt older. Being 30 doesn’t necessarily bother me. Knowing that I am the old man who will play his eighth year. I see the youngsters, the rookie newcomers and I understand the urgency to win”, he concluded.

Throughout his career, the former star of the Mississippi State Bulldogs of college football has accumulated 61 wins and 36 losses with the Cowboys in the regular season; he has passed for 24,943 yards and 166 touchdowns. In the ‘playoffs’ his mark is two wins and four losses.
