Gyeongbuk Provincial Office of Education Bonghwa Office of Education is making students’ dreams come true through educational revitalization projects.

This year, Bonghwa Office of Education supports cultural arts education in farming and fishing villages, revitalizes physical education, takes a scientific leap for the future, on-town Saturday after-school program, pilot training to restructure the role of the Office of Education, Yeong-Honam (Jangheung-Bonghwa) Through the operation of educational leader exchange programs, it has achieved remarkable results in strengthening students’ competencies.

In addition, three elementary courses (mathematics, science invention, information) and one middle school course (convergence) are being operated through the Gifted and Talented Education Center affiliated with the Office of Education. The unique program for fostering creative and convergent talents, which consists of 24 excellent elementary, middle, and high school teachers, is also popular.

In particular, in order to strengthen students’ cultural competence and improve their quality of life, professional art instructors are used to provide continuous classes such as choir, craft, and dance for elementary school students.

In addition, 100 elementary and middle school students are selected to conduct Saturday after-school programs such as sports (new sports, badminton, wrestling, broadcasting dance) and digital education (AI, coding). In order to reduce the workload and increase efficiency of teachers, a pilot project for restructuring the role of the Office of Education is also being promoted.

Thanks to these efforts, at the National Youth Sports Festival this year, Hyomin Jang, a 3rd grader at Socheon Middle School, won two gold medals in the 400m relay and 1,600m relay in track and field, and Sehyeon Lee and Jui Kim, a 3rd grader at Bonghwa Middle School in the soft tennis girls’ middle school team (students won gold medals, In the men’s and women’s group division, Bonghwa Middle School’s 3rd grader Kim Moo-seop and 2nd grader Kwak Yul’s students won bronze medals.

In the 44th Gyeongbuk Student Science Invention Contest, 2 special prizes (Choi Ha-neul, 6th grader of Dongyang Elementary School, Kim Da-hee, 1st grader of Bonghwa Middle School), 3 excellence prizes (Suk Won-jun, 3rd grader of Bongseong Elementary School, 5th grader of Socheon Elementary School), 1 Encouragement Prize (Kim Pyeong-an, 6th grade at Dochon Elementary School).

Park Myeong-ho, head of Bonghwa Education, said, “I think this achievement was achieved with the passion of all students, teachers, and parents.”
