Comptroller General to Conduct Audits of Dominican Sports Federations for Transparent Use of Public Resources

The Comptroller General of the Republic, Félix Santana García, told RCNoticias this Thursday that they will continue their “crusade” to apply audits in all levels of the State, including the Dominican Olympic Committee and its sports federations to find out how they use resources as well as to improve processes.

“The Comptroller General of the Republic is applying audits in all non-financial central government institutions,” said Santana García.

Last Monday the watchdog entity visited the Dominican Olympic Committee (COD) to carry out an audit of the newspaper from September 1, 2020 to December 31, 2022 “Right now the Dominican Olympic Committee is developing activities and identifying how the funds that are being transferred through the COD are being applied, so these days the General Comptroller of the Republic has reached the COD to apply the corresponding audits to find out what is the use that is being given to them to the funds of the different federations simply and fully to improve processes, improve controls for the best use of State funds”. said the representative of the Comptroller.

He said that the only purpose of the audits is to improve the processes “currently the Comptroller’s Office continues its crusade to apply audits in all levels of the State, simply and plainly to improve its processes and for no other purpose.”

After the Comptroller’s visit to the COD, the Badminton, Fencing, Modern Pentathlon, Shooting and Surfing federations were suspended by the Dominican Olympic Committee (COD) for three months due to alleged irregularities.
