Chelsea Completes Transfer of Brazilian Winger Angelo Gabriel from Santos in Busy Premier League Summer Transfer Market

TRIBUNJOGJA.COMPremier League clubs continue to heat up the 2023 summer transfer market.

Most recently, Chelsea have completed the transfer of Brazilian winger Angelo Gabriel from Santos.

The 18-year-old has signed a long-term contract at Stamford Bridge, although the exact length of his contract has not been disclosed by the club.

The cost of bringing Angelo to West London is understood to be around €15m (£12.8m).

Angelo is expected to join his new team-mates on their pre-season tour of the United States, although he is likely to go out on loan for the 2023-24 season, with an option for Strasbourg.

The forward became the youngest player in Brazilian top-flight history when he made his debut aged just 15 years and 308 days in 2020.

Angelo has remained a regular in Santos’ first team since his debut, making 129 senior appearances for the club despite his advanced age.

The Brazil Under-20 international’s first senior goal made him the youngest goalscorer in Copa Libertadores history when he netted away to Lorenzo in April 2021.

In total, he scored five goals and created another 10 for his teammates during his time at Santos.

Angelo could feature for his new club for the first time when they take on Wrexham in their pre-season opener in Florida on Wednesday night.

Mauricio Pochettino’s team will also face Borussia Dortmund during their pre-season schedule, before kicking off their Premier League campaign against Liverpool.

Angelo’s arrival continues a busy summer for Chelsea, who also brought in Christopher Nkunku, Nicolas Jackson and Diego Moreira during the current transfer window.

Things have gotten busier in the opposite direction, with Kai Havertz, Mason Mount, Kalidou Koulibaly, N’Golo Kante, Mateo Kovacic, Christian Pulisic, Edouard Mendy, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Cesar Azpilicueta among those who have left.

Meanwhile, here is the latest summary of the Premier League transfer market as of Monday (17/7/2023), quoted Jogja Tribune from PremierLeague.com.
