Carabinieri Conduct Extraordinary Control Service to Combat Degradation and Illegality in Ostia

In recent days, i Carabinieri of the departments employed by the Compagnia di Roma Ostia, with the support of colleagues from the NAS and the Carabinieri Forestry Station of Ostia, carried out an extraordinary control service which was concentrated in particular in the area of ​​the Lido Centro station and also involved that of the Lido Nord, aimed at contrasting all forms of degradation and illegality. The service led to a total of 4 arrests and 5 complaints in a state of freedom for various crimes, to the reporting to the Prefecture of Rome of a drug user. As part of the same service, a room intended for the administration of alcoholic beverages and other things was also seized, lacking any type of concession or authorisation.

In particular, the Carabinieri of the Casal – Palocco station of Rome intercepted a 33-year-old man on whom a prison order was pending, issued by the Court of Appeal of Rome, having to expiate a residual sentence of 1 year, 3 months and 28 days in prison, for drug-related crimes, committed in Rome. The arrested person was then transferred to the prison of Rebibbia.

The Carabinieri of the Rome – Ponte Galeria station arrested a 30-year-old man for evasion who, instead of being at home, where he was under house arrest for drug-related offences, was near a commercial activity located near his home. The Ponte Galeria soldiers themselves reported a 45-year-old man found in possession of 3 knives, of which he was unable to justify why he was carrying them in tow.

The Carabinieri of the Ostia station, following a street check, arrested a 16-year-old young man (already subjected to the measure of staying at home), because he was affected by an order to aggravate the precautionary measure in place with that of placement in the community, issued by the Juvenile Court of Rome.

The Carabinieri of the Radiomobile Section of the Ostia Company arrested a 31-year-old man (already subjected to house arrest for crimes against property), affected by an aggravation of the measure in place with that of pre-trial detention in prison, issued by the Ordinary Court of Rome, for previous violations of the measure imposed on him. The man was translated to the “Regina Coeli” prison in Rome. The same soldiers of the Radiomobile section also reported a 30-year-old man found in possession of a handcrafted wooden stick of about one meter. The Carabinieri had intervened because following a report to the “112 NUE” a street dispute had been reported.

Furthermore, in the same context, the Carabinieri of the Fregene station, following a check on road traffic, reported a 54-year-old and a 35-year-old in a state of freedom, held responsible for the illegal possession of drugs. The two were found with 5g of cocaine. In the same circumstance, the driver of the vehicle, following the refusal to submit to the checks for driving in a state of psychophysical impairment due to the use of drugs, was reported for the crime pursuant to art. 196 c.8 of the CDS with the simultaneous withdrawal of the driving licence. The drug was seized.

Even the Carabinieri of the Rome Vitinia station reported a 23-year-old in a state of freedom found in possession of a prohibited knife, following checks on road traffic. Under the circumstance, the young man, after having become aware of the presence of the military, in order to escape control, had attempted a brief escape on foot and was immediately blocked and found in possession of a 32 cm switchblade.

In the same context of the interventions against degradation in the areas of the Lido Stations, a young man was reported to the Prefecture of Rome as a drug user, found in possession of a single dose of cocaine, subject to administrative seizure.

Finally, as part of the verification activities on compliance with food safety standards, the Carabinieri of the Compagnia di Ostia with the specialist support of their colleagues from the NAS and the Carabinieri Forestali seized a structure of about 60 square meters, built with makeshift material (wood and sheet metal) used for the administration of alcoholic beverages and other, in the absence of any concession or authorization title. The artifact was seized. Furthermore, in the same context, administrative fines were imposed for violations of food safety for a total of 4,000 euros for the woman who managed it.

The activities will continue in the next few days to ensure serene and safe days for all those who will frequent the Roman coast during the summer period.
