Campaign of Russian attacks on Odessa after finalizing the grain agreement

The Kremlin steps up its offensive against the Ukrainian town of Odessa and its port after the grain deal expired

The attacks have left people dead and injured and have destroyed civilian infrastructure in the city, a UNESCO heritage site.

Presidents Zelensky and Erdogan “coordinate efforts” to restore the Ukrainian grains agreement

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has condemned the latest russian attacks against the historical center of the Ukrainian city of Odessawhere several museums with the status of world heritage are located.

The city, located in southwestern Ukraine, has been the scene of Russian offensives in recent days. The attacks have caused deaths and injuries, and have destroyed infrastructure civilian, including seaports.

Moscow destroys grain sheds in Odessa

The governor of Odessa, Oleg Kiper, has reported an attack by Russian forces on grain warehouses in Odessa, days after Moscow decided romper the agreement of export and that both countries announced that the mouths let them navigate the Black Sea could be considered military objectives.

Russia’s representative to the United Nations, Vasili Nebenziahas assured before the Security Council of the organization that the agreement for the export of grain and agricultural products from Ukrainian ports had become a Commercial Operation”.

Nebenzia has expressed feeling “surprised by the degree of cynicism” of the Western members of the Security Council when it comes to expressing their concern about the end of the grain agreement. “I have a question for you, what did you expect?” added the Russian representative.

Zelensky and Erdogan “coordinate efforts”

The President of Ukraine, Volodímir Zelenskiand its Turkish counterpart, Recep Tayyip Erdoganhave had a telephone conversation in which they have “coordinated efforts” to restore the operation of the agreement for the grain export Ukrainians through the waters of the Black Sea.

“Due to Russia’s actions, the world is once again on the verge of a food crisis. A total of 400 million people in many countries in Africa and Asia are at risk of starve. Together, we must prevent a global food crisis,” Zelensky added on Twitter.

Likewise, the Ukrainian president has reported that together with his Turkish counterpart he has addressed the implementation of the so-called ‘peace formula’kyiv’s proposal to agree to the end of the war -started in February 2022 by Russia- and whose great condition is total respect for the territorial integrity of Ukraine.

“We request the assistance of President Erdogan for the return of prisoners of war Ukrainians, especially the Crimean Tatars”, added President Zelenski, who also thanked his Turkish counterpart for having received him in Istanbul at the beginning of the month. “I thank you for the fruitful meeting”, he said.

Russia and Ukraine reached an agreement in July last year – mediated by Turkey and the United Nations – for the export of Ukrainian grain and Russian fertilizers from Black Sea ports. After several extensions, the pact finally came to an end this week after the Russian refusal to a new extension.
