Brendan Bailey Joins Basketball Bundesliga: Continuing the Success Story with Niners Chemnitz

A big name is playing in the basketball Bundesliga next season. Brendan Bailey (26) is moving from the Swedish first division club BC Lulea to Niners Chemnitz.

The 2.03 meter giant is the son of NBA legend Thurl Bailey (62), who played a total of 997 competitive games in the best league in the world between 1983 and 1999 for the Utah Jazz and the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Brendan Bailey initially wants to recommend himself further in Europe. Prior to his time in Sweden, the winger gained experience at TFT Skopje in Macedonia and in the NBA G League with the Salt Lake City Stars, Lakeland Magic and Wisconsin Herd. He averaged 17.6 points in 33 games for Lulea last season.

Now he is looking forward to Chemnitz and the BBL. “Reaching the playoffs there twice in a row speaks for the quality of the club and I want to contribute to continuing the success story,” says the Niners newcomer, who signed with the Saxons until 2025.

What can Niners fans expect from him? “With my throwing skills, I can help to widen the field and, thanks to my height, I can defend several positions. I want to bring that versatility to help the team at both ends of the field.”

Bailey has already arrived in Chemnitz to attend the Niners’ summer camp. Coach Rodrigo Pastore (50) raves about the new thing: “Brendan is a highly talented basketball player who is far from exhausted his potential. That’s why we’re very happy to have tied him to us for two years and we’re hoping for the next leap in performance over this period of time.”
