Both Latvian beach volleyball duos lose in the semifinals of the European U-22 Championship

Namiķe/Ebere, seeded fourth in the competition, lost 0-2 (19:21, 18:21) to the Czechs Kailija Neušaeforova/Marketa Svozilova (8th) in the semi-final match. In the fight for bronze medals, they will meet the Spaniards Sofia Isuskis/Ana Vergara (2nd).

On the other hand, Fokerot/Bulgačs (3rd) recognized the superiority of the Norwegians Markus Mühl/Ju Sunde (10th) with 0-2 (16:21, 19:21). In the bronze duel, Latvians are expected to meet with Austrians Timo Hammarberg/Tima Berger (5th).

Both Latvian duos won all their games in the subgroup tournament and “play-off” until the semi-finals.

In the women’s competition, the team Anete Namiķe/Varvara Brailko had won participation in the European U-22 Championship, however, a few hours before the flight to the competition, Brailko had to refuse her participation due to health problems and instead of her, the coach chose to include Eberi in the team.

Coach Atvars Vilde went to the tournament with Fokerota/Bulgača, and Aleksandrs Solovej with the women’s pair.

The European U-22 Championship will take place in the Romanian city of Timisoara until July 29.
