This is the first reunion with an ex-player – at least on paper! On Tuesday, the Basketball-Bundesliga GmbH announced the first day of play in the 58th BBL season, which starts from September 27th to 29th.
Goettingen – BG Goettingen has to go to the Würzburg Baskets on September 29th (Friday). As is well known, the previous BGer Javon Bess switched to the Mainfranken.
Because of the Champions League qualification (from September 25), this game and probably also the first BG home game will be postponed, as BG managing director Frank Meinertshagen announced.
Champion Ulm begins the season against Chemnitz, Vice Bonn (with coach Moors, Pape and Frey) against promoted Tübingen. Lower Saxony returnee Vechta is expecting the Bamberg Baskets (new name).
The reformed BBL Cup begins before the Bundesliga. As sixth in the table last season, BG only entered the second round (round of 16, October 15). On the 23rd/24th September sees the first round rise with six second division teams and the BBL teams from ninth to 16th place.
Licensing was also completed in 20124. The five clubs, including the BG, which had received the license with conditions, provided all the required evidence on time and in full. (haz/gsd)
