Betclic ÉLITE – Élan Chalon has formalized the signing of winger Vuk Vucevic for the 2023-2024 season. Aged 21, he is the son of coach Savo Vucevic.

Returned to France in January after spending a year and a half in the United States via Montverde Academy and the University of New Mexico, Vuk Vucevic (1.97 m, 21 years old) will continue at Elan Chalon. Accustomed to first-team training in the first half of the year, the winger from Cholet signed his first professional contract with the Burgundy club. Enough to continue to come and densify the daily sessions, he who has grown physically since his Burgian years but still has a long way to go (6.9 points at 34%, 3.9 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 10 games d’Espoirs Pro B).

His cousin Nikola Vucevic as a mentor

Launched on the big stage by Savo Vucevic in 2021 with four EuroCup appearances (including a 13-minute match on the Virtus Bologna floor), Vuk Vucevic will therefore continue his progression under the orders of his father, who returned two years with Momentum on his side. He also has the chance to benefit from the regular advice of an extraordinary mentor, his cousin Nikola Vucevic, the Chicago Bulls’ two-time NBA All-Star. “Vuk is starting to develop, to play more and more”told us the former star of Orlando in 2021. “We hope that he too will have a good career and that it will continue in the family. […] It was very good for him to play so much in Bologna. He played against big European teams, against big players. It’s a very good experience. It helps him to see what separates him from the top level. It’s different to play against young people your age than against pros. It did him good to see what he lacks, what he needs to improve on to reach this level. It will motivate him to keep working. I think he has a talent, he just has to find a way to exploit it to the fullest. […] I can accompany Vuk in his development, give him advice, talk to him often. Since he really wants to get serious about it, I try to watch his games and give him a hand as I can. He had sent me one or two Espoirs matches, in addition to Bologna. In the summer, I see him training too. Helping him in his development would be interesting, it’s something I would really like to do. He has to go his own way of course, but I think it’s always good to have someone to help you. »
