Not a good day for Joel Schwärzler in the semifinals of the U18 European Championship in Switzerland
That was not a day for Joel Schwärzler’s memory hard drive at the U-18 European Championships in Klosters: Jürgen Melzer’s protégé had to say goodbye to his title dreams in both the singles and doubles competitions in the semifinals in Switzerland.
In the morning, the third seeded Vorarlberger suffered a disappointing 4:6, 0:6 defeat against local hero Patrick Schön. The Swiss will play in the final against the also unseeded Frenchman Tiago Pires for the European Championship title.
And the double in the afternoon was not a ray of hope for the ÖTV hopeful either: together with Benedikt Szerecsits, the Austrian pairing beat the Italians Carlo Alberto Canitao / Gabriele Vulpitta, who were seeded five, 2: 6, 1: 6.
Here the single tableau from Klosters.
