Football fans in Australia can enjoy their own national team a little longer at the World Cup. The Australian women even launched themselves to the group win on the final day in their group with a big win against Canada. It became 0-4. For example, the tournament of the Olympic champions will soon be over.

For New Zealand it did not work in its own country, for Australia it did. Supported by 30,000 enthusiastic fans, the Matildas did what they had to do: win against Canada.

Hayley Raso scored twice before half-time and Australia was immediately on roses. With a quick goal after the break from Mary Fowler, it was time for Canada to book.

The 2021 Olympic champion could no longer turn the tide. In added time it became 0-4 from the spot.

Canada is third in the group, behind Australia and Nigeria. On the final day in Group B, a scoreless draw against Ireland in Brisbane was enough for Nigeria to push through.
