Anthony Edwards Signs Lucrative Contract Extension with Wolves, Building Future Success

NBA – Tim Connelly and the Wolves have full confidence in Anthony Edwards, who has just extended for the maximum possible, possibly $260 million over five years.

Strong man of Wolves, Tim Connelly no longer hides it: the project is built around Anthony Edwards.

And in Las Vegas, at the press conference to formalize the fullback/winger’s huge contract extension (between $217 million and $260 million over five years, depending on bonuses), the club’s president of basketball operations , accompanied by coach Chris Finch and (still) owner Glen Taylor, detailed why he had no doubts when entrusting the keys to the franchise to Anthony Edwards.

“I’ve been in the NBA for a long time, and the spirit, the quality of the person you are, is a reflection of a lot of people in this room, and not just you”explained Tim Connelly. “You have great support and it’s a pleasure to be around you. Your best basketball is in front of you. »

Anthony Edwards has also explained that this contract extension was not at all a result for him. It is simply a step on the road to the most important thing: winning.

Team USA to take a new step?

And the All-Star ensures that he will work hard to achieve this. He explains in particular that he agreed to join the Team USA squad for the 2023 World Cup with a view to taking a new step.

“I think the most exciting thing (about Wolves) is that we are young”he also recalled. “We will improve. And we have a great coach, a great GM. We trust them. As long as they trust us, we will get there”.

Anthony Edwards also recalled that his success will necessarily depend on that of his teammates. Just after signing his extension, in an interview for the Wolves site, he had also set some nice (and true to his personality) goals for Karl-Anthony Towns (“Be MVP”), Rudy Gobert (“Return to level of a best defender of the year”), Jaden McDaniels (“Shooter more than 40% from 3-pointers and still be the best defender in the league”) or even Mike Conley (“Play like a young person again”) .

Above all, he had promised to make further progress.

“Do a little more. Show the world that I have a lot in store. Much more low post play, mid-range. Even more defense. To be in even better shape and try to impact the game in every way possible,” he had thus announced. It promises for his opponents if he fulfills his objectives…
