Andrey Rublev won the ATP 250 tournament from Basted beating Casper Ruud in the final 7-6, 6-0. During the awards ceremony, the two tennis players and court staff had a very funny moment: Ruud praised Rublev, but also mocked him, saying: “Congratulations, great week, you are a very tough competitor, but also a very nice guy, very funny, always respectful of your opponents even though you hit all the fucking lines today.
You haven’t been so respectful to me.” Rublev, with an amused smile, replied referring to the possibility of the game being suspended due to bad weather: “I wasn’t really motivated to play today.
All the referees told me that he was sure you wouldn’t play today, that there was no chance… then they told me that it looks like we might start at 2 o’clock.” At the time of the presentation of the trophies and champagne, Rublev took revenge for Ruud’s comments by sprinkling champagne on the Norwegian and the staff present !

Rublev’s words after the victory
The Russian said after the victory in Bastad: “It’s always nice to win a title.
After all, we lose almost every week, so this title is one of two this year. It’s a special feeling and the final was played in difficult conditions, but I was lucky to get out of it.
Casper hits a lot with spin, to play high, and in that weather the ball wasn’t jumping very high, and I think that helped me a bit.”This is Rublev’s 18th clay-court win of the seasonwhich allows him to post a record of 5-2 against Ruud.
The success in Sweden, the second of the year after the triumph at the ATP Masters 1000 in Monte-Carlo, also allowed him to take fourth place in the race for the ATP Finals.
