Alexander Blessin officially presented to the Union: “The mission is to reach the top”

The 50-year-old German, who signed a two-year contract with the Brussels club, had just given his first training session after watching his new team’s friendly match against Nijlen (0-9) from the stand. “It feels good to be back on the lawn, explains the one who hadn’t had a club since his dismissal last December at Genoa. I really missed it.”

Blessin took part in his first press conference as a Union coach.

Surrounded by President Alex Muzio and sporting director Chris O’Loughlin, all under the watchful eye of Philippe Bormans, Blessin seemed very relaxed. As if he had been part of the Unionist house for a little while. “I have no problem with the pressure, he says. My goal is not to reach a very particular position in the standings. As a coach, I want to win every game. The mission is to reach the top. I am confident for that because I have already seen the many qualities present in the group.”

The trainer who passed through Ostend before joining Italy conquered his assembly, even managing to make the Union management laugh at times (“I will come to live in Belgium, with my dogs but without my hamster because he is dead” ). It now remains to convince his people on the ground. With a first match to coach this Sunday in Monaco. And the official resumption of the championship which is coming in just over three weeks…
