The Council of Ministers has approved that the Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda portfolio bid, through Adif, contracts for a total value of 105.4 million euros to reduce noise and vibrations on conventional network lines and renew the communications infrastructure of the downtown area.
Specifically, Adif will invest 65 million euros in the profiling and auscultation of rails of the lines of the conventional networks and metric gauge for a period of four years.
The contract for rail profiling, which has a budget of 47 million euros, improves passenger comfort and reduces noise and vibrations.
In addition, this task serves to prolong the useful life of the superstructure (rail, sleepers and ballast) and optimize the maintenance costs of the track and rolling stock, as explained by the Government.
For its part, the contract for ultrasonic auscultation services has an estimated investment of 18.2 million euros to analyze the main parameters of the road.
This will make it possible to maintain and increase the quality, reliability and security of the infrastructures and to detect possible internal defects and correctly size surface defects.
The budget for Adif tenders approved this Tuesday by the Council of Ministers also includes the item of 40.4 million euros for the renovation works of the communications infrastructure of the railway gesture in the Center area.
This includes the Autonomous Community of Madrid and the provinces of Ávila, Segovia, Valladolid, Ciudad Real and Jaén.
The contract will have a duration of 23 months and will serve to provide more reliability and robustness to the fiber optic network of conventional lines.
In turn, it will deploy a new trunk fiber cable for the implementation of the Internet Protocol (IP) numerical address network.
These actions are part of Adif’s Telecommunications Improvement Plan and contemplate the adaptation of fiber for the transport of all services, as well as the renewal of cabling or the deployment of fiber where necessary.
In addition, once the communication needs inherent to rail traffic have been met, Adif and Adif AV will offer capacity and services to telecommunications operators.
