Championship leader Francesco Bagnaia clinched the MotoGP pole position for his home race at Mugello on Saturday. The Italian Ducati pilot set a new course record of 1:44.855 minutes on his last lap ahead of the Spanish brothers Marc Marquez (+0.078/Honda) and Alex Marquez (+0.152/Ducati).
The GP of Italy takes place on Sunday (2:00 p.m.) as the sixth of a total of 20 World Championship races, before that the sprint race is on the program on Saturday (3:00 p.m.). In the World Championship standings, Bagnaia (94 points) is in first place ahead of his compatriot and brand colleague Marco Bezzecchi (93). Third is South African Brad Binder on a KTM (81).
