WATCH: Fritz silences chauvinistic French, outsider Sinner collides with German wall | Roland Garros

The rowdy home fans on Court Suzanne Lenglen hoped for a stunt from their player last night. Arthur Rinderknech had started the match with a set win and in set 2 he remained standing for a long time.

Until the Frenchman was caught making a few misses at 4-4. Taylor Fritz happily picked up the stitches and took over directing.

Despite the support of the public, Rinderknech had to admit his superior in the 1.96 meter American. With sharp drop shots, Fritz pulled the sheet towards him.

The American put his finger to his lips to silence the French onlookers.

It was like a red rag to a bull. The chauvinistic audience booed Fritz.

With the third round, the world number 8 equals his best result ever at Roland Garros. In 2020, Fritz stranded against Italian Lorenzo Sonego.

Sinner forced two match balls, but was unable to finish them. Because Altmaier thought he was Manuel Neuer. Sinner was playing tennis against a wall.

The player from South Tyrol was also unlucky. One of his match points was lost with a netball from Altmaier.

In the third round at the Porte d’Auteuil, Altmaier will meet the Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov (ATP-29).
