One Leeds Wins 3rd Consecutive Prefectural Basketball Championship

ONELYSwakayama, aiming to enter the men’s professional basketball league (B.LEAGUE), won the “6th Prefectural Comprehensive Basketball Championship” held at the prefectural gymnasium in Nakanoshima, Wakayama City in May. On the 5th, members of the team visited Mayor Masahiro Obana at Wakayama City Hall and reported their joy.

The team defeated INVINCIBLE 91-47 in the quarterfinals, Wakayama Trians 93-77 in the semifinals, and D-ride 81-66 in the finals, winning the third straight victory since the team was founded in 2021. Participation in the “99th Emperor’s Cup/90th Empress’s Cup All Japan Basketball Tournament” to be held in September has been decided. Aiming to break through the first league and beat the pros in the second league.

Mayor Obana greeted the members and presented Kazuki Oto with a commemorative gift. Captain Haruki Atobe said, “I’m happy that so many people came to the tournament. I want to continue to work hard so that I can pass on my skills and passion to children.”

The mayor of Obana expressed his hopes for the team’s future success and encouraged them, saying, “As a representative of the prefecture, I want you to show results in practice.”

Yoritaka Ueda, representative of the baseball team, said that the biggest achievement was that he was able to take the first step toward creating a dream for children. And I hope we can have exchanges other than basketball.”
