VIDEO ⟩ Protests erupt ahead of Kenyan WRC stage, police fire tear gas

Kenya’s TV47 reports that protesters burned tires and other items on the road and blocked it with stones. It is said that the young people wanted a job in the organization of the WRC stage.

In order to disperse the protesters and clear the way, the police will intervene, using tear gas.

Local residents have previously expressed dissatisfaction with the situation, and Kenyan President William Ruto has promised that new jobs will be created thanks to the rally.

Rally Kenya starts on Thursday. It will be the seventh round of the WRC season.

There will be 13 rounds of the WRC this season, with the eighth in a row taking place in Estonia in July. It is planned that next season Latvia will make its debut in the WRC calendar with a stage.

In the previous season, former Latvian champion Kalle Rovanpere from Finland was crowned the champion.
