Milan van Ewijk is open to a transfer to Sporting Portugal. Earlier this month, the Portuguese newspaper reported THE GAME that the right back of sc Heerenveen ‘first waits for an offer from PSV or Ajax’, but he calls that a lie.
Van Ewijk played half with the Dutch Juniors against Portugal (1-1) on Saturday and spoke to the Portuguese press after that match. Canal 11 asked Van Ewijk about Sporting’s interest. “A lot has recently been written in the newspapers. They say I’m waiting for PSV or Ajax, but that’s a lie,” the 22-year-old wing defender made clear.
“Sporting would be a good next step. I can develop there. It is a good club,” continues Van Ewijk. “I want to keep my options open, we will see what happens. I have not had direct contact with Sporting, but I think my agent has been in contact.” Reportedly, Anderlecht and Fulham are also targeting the defender.
Van Ewijk has become one of the better right backs in the Eredivisie. In 2019 he made the switch from the amateurs of Excelsior Maassluis to ADO Den Haag. In The Hague, Van Ewijk grew into an important player and earned a transfer to Heerenveen. In total he played 78 official matches for the Frisians.
