Argentine point guard Facundo Campazzo, 32, received an offer from Real Madrid for a three-season contract and nine million euros, figures that would make it possible for the Cordovan to return to the team, the Spanish press reported today.
Campazzo played until 2020 for Madrid before leaving to play in the NBA for the current finalist Denver Nuggets, along with his friend Nikola Jokic.
After spending time with the Nuggets and a brief period with the Dallas Mavericks, the Argentine returned to Europe to play this year for Red Star Belgrade, in Serbia.
The nine million figure would be gross, so Campazzo would receive approximately 1,500,000 euros per season net, according to what was reported in the Spanish media.
That figure may be a little higher in the first year, when Real Madrid would give him more money, but the sum is not far from the 2,000,000 net that some of the highest-paid players in the Euroleague earn.
His pass through the NBA
In the NBA, the base of the Argentine national team played 138 games, although only eight in the last season, 2023/2024 until he left for Belgrade.
If the agreement becomes official, Campazzo will return to his first entity in Europe, the one he played between 2014-2022, except for a period of two seasons (2015-2017) in which he was loaned to UCAM Murcia.
The Cordovan was part of the ‘merengue’ squad that won two Euroleagues (2015 and 2018).
