“Ideal choice”: Former Nowitzki colleague takes over NBA team

The Milwaukee Bucks are looking for a new head coach. As confirmed by the franchise from the professional basketball league NBA, Adrian Griffin succeeds Mike Budenholzer, who was released in early May. The 48-year-old comes from league rivals Toronto Raptors, where he has been an assistant coach for the past five seasons.

  • For Griffin, who was runner-up with the Dallas Mavericks in 2006 alongside Dirk Nowitzki, it is his first post as head coach after 15 years as an assistant – in the franchise where his career on the sidelines began in 2008.
  • “His experience as a championship-level coach, his character, his understanding of basketball and his ability to connect with and develop players make him the ideal player,” said Bucks CEO Jon Horst choice to lead our team.”
  • The Bucks parted ways with Griffin’s predecessor Budenholzer after the crashing first-round loss in the play-offs against Miami (1: 4).
