the party organized by the Ic Commenda

BRINDISI – “Sport for everyone. Growing up without barriers” is the title of the second edition of a great sporting event to be held on 6 June at the “Giulio Cesare” complex of the Commenda Comprehensive Institute in Brindisi. The event, organized in collaboration with “Asd Lame Azzurre Brindisi Maestri Zumbo” will represent the first stage of approach to the “Mediterranean Cup under 23” of Fencing. The event will also be realized with the collaboration of the promotional body “Csi Provincia di Brindisi” and the association “Asd Releve’ Ritmica Brindisi” and will involve about 200 young people who will be engaged on volleyball, fencing, badminton, tennis, taekwoondo, football, rugby, orienteering, sup, on athletics tracks and in motor activity exhibitions.

Sport for all, therefore, “a title that aims to demonstrate how many barriers can be broken down, everywhere and in every field – explains the head teacher, Patrizia Carra -. We speak of inclusion in the strict sense and in the general sense. Understanding, understanding and accepting each other to ensure that everyone can live their school experience and their life experience in an appropriate way to individual needs. We want to teach these kids – continues the manager – that barriers exclude and create distinctions that have no reason to exist. We want to convey the message that in life, as in school, our goal must be to create the conditions for everyone to have the same possibilities, without distinction.” “And to better explain this concept – concludes the manager – we have a huge tool, one of the most significant: sport. All those indispensable principles for the formation of the individual are conveyed through sport, such as commitment, discipline, fair play.”

In recent years, the comprehensive institute “Commenda” has been carrying out an articulated project of opening up to sporting practices which includes numerous initiatives such as the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding signed in September 2021 between the Municipality of Brindisi, the Institute and the Italian Fencing Federation, with the subsequent inter-institutional creation of courses aimed at promoting the territory and promoting the diffusion of the fencing discipline among young people. Furthermore, the “Junior Active School” project and numerous projects of the National Operational Program (Pon) of the Ministry of Education were launched.

Furthermore, on the national territory, the Ic Commenda has become part of a small network of 120 schools: “Schools for Sport Italy”, which for several years have been experimenting with the enhancement of sports and motor activities within a curriculum interdisciplinary and transversal. Starting next year, the new sports curvature will be launched in the school which, during curricular hours, will allow children to get to know and practice numerous sports and to discover, with greater awareness, their own aptitudes and inclinations.

“We are very happy, for the second consecutive year, to host many associations and many sports personalities within our school – says the Sports Sciences coordinator, Silvia Lapomarda – because we are convinced that sport is a “school of life” of high educational value, a fundamental tool that can teach young people how to face and overcome obstacles, strengthening their personality and their capacity for resilience.”
Prominent exponents of national and international sport such as Giacomo Leone, Matteo Spagnolo, Marco Di Bello and the president of Brindisi Calcio FC, Daniele Arigliano together with some of the team’s players, will take part in the celebration of the IC Commenda.

“In 2021 when the collaboration between the Lame Azzurre Brindisi and the Istituto Comprensivo Commenda began – declares the President of the “Lame Azzurre” Association, Alessandro Rubino – I was convinced that the combination of fencing and school would be a success. Today, after a journey that has lasted for three years, between projects, school, sports and promotional initiatives, up to the co-participation for the organization of a major international event such as the Fencing “Mediterranean Cup”, I can confirm it. For all this I thank the school manager Patrizia Carra, the first supporter of this project and without whom all this would not have been possible.”

The event will be attended by the head teacher, Patrizia Carra, the Colonel of the Role of Honor Carlo Calcagni, the Motor and Sports Science referent of the University of Salento Dario Colella, the president of the regional Paralympic Committee Giuseppe Pinto, the provincial president of Coni Mario Palmisano Romano, the Csi Regional President Ivano Rolli, and the President of the “Lame Azzurre” Association Alessandro Rubino. Appointment starting at 18.30.
