the judge charges the son, Javi Enríquez, and sees signs of money laundering

BarcelonaThe investigating judge investigating the Negreira case has finally decided to charge the son of the former vice-president of the referees, Javier Enríquez. He has also added a new possible crime, as he sees signs of money laundering in the payments he received over 20 years from, among others, Barça. This is what he made known in the interlocutory notice published this Friday, in which he reports that he will go back in time to 2001 and extend the secrecy of the summary by one month.

Until now, Javier Enríquez, son of José Maria Enríquez Negreira – the former Primera referee and former vice-president of the Technical Committee of Arbitrators – had been left out of the case at the request of the Prosecutor’s Office, which summoned him to testify as a witness. But the judge, Sílvia López Mejía, considers that there is enough evidence to impute him, thus heeding the request of the League, one of the parties that are involved in the case. Javier Enríquez distanced himself from his father’s business when he testified, but the magistrate considers that he is part of the business structure, especially considering that he took several courses in coaching to the referees who would eventually rise to the highest category, and who also carried out various tasks with the national team and the CTA.

The case, in which Barça’s payments of more than seven million euros to the Negreiras are being investigated, was initially opened for the crimes of corruption between individuals in the sports field, disloyal administration and falsification of commercial documents, which are now also adds that of money laundering.

In the case, the court keeps accused, in addition to Barça, the former presidents of Barcelona Sandro Rosell and Josep Maria Bartomeu, the former executive director of the club Oscar Grau and the former director of professional sports Albert Soler, in addition to Enríquez Negreira and from now also his son.
