KOMPAS.com – Today’s Thailand Open 2023 schedule will hold semifinal matches. Two men’s doubles, Marcus Fernaldi Gideon/Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo and Muhammad Shohibul Fikri/Bagas Maulana, are Indonesia’s hope of winning the title.
The Thailand Open 2023 badminton tournament which is being held in Bangkok has entered the semifinal round with Indonesia passing its two representatives.
The two representatives of Merah Putih who advanced to the semifinals of the BWF World Tour Super 500 tournament came from the men’s doubles sector, namely Marcus Fernaldi Gideon/Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo and Muhammad Shohibul Fikri/Bagas Maulana.

Fikri/Bagas advanced to the semifinals of the Thailand Open 2023 after defeating the Taiwanese pair, Lu Ching Yao/Yang Po Han in the quarterfinals.
Fikri/Bagas had to fight for three games to beat Lu/Yang with scores of 21-18, 19-21 and 21-17.
Meanwhile, Marcus/Kevin secured tickets to the semifinals after defeating South Korea’s men’s doubles, Kang Min-hyuk/Seo Seung-jae.
Just like Fikri/Bagas, Marcus/Kevin also had to play a rubber game to win tickets to the semifinals.
The men’s doubles duo, nicknamed The Minions, lost 17-21 in the first game and then replied in the next two games to win 22-20 and 21-18.

In the semifinal match, Marcus/Kevin will face Chinese representatives, Liang Weikeng/Wang Chang.
For Marcus/Kevin, the 2023 Thailand Open semifinal match will be the fourth meeting with Liang/Wang.
From the previous three meetings, the Minions always lost to the Bamboo Curtain Country pair.
As for the other semifinal match, Fikri/Bagas will face South Korea’s men’s doubles, Choi Sol-gyu/Kim Won-ho.
This match will be the first meeting between Fikri/Bagas and Choi/Kim in the BWF tournament.

The series of semifinal matches for the Thailand Open 2023 will be held at Courts 1 and 2 Indoor Stadium Huamark, Bangkok, on Saturday (3/6/2023).
The match on Field 1 will start at 12.00 WIB, while on Court 2 it will start at 17.00 WIB.
Marcus/Kevin will play the Thailand Open 2023 semifinal against Liang Weikeng/Wang Chang on Court 1 in the sixth match.
Meanwhile, Fikri/Bagas will face Choi Sol-gyu/Kim Won-ho in the sixth match on Court 2.
