SZ formality: Interview with Kai Pflaume – Sport

Kai Pflaume, 56, moderated the relationship show “Only Love Counts” on RTL and Sat1 from 1993 to 2011. Then he went to ARD, where he is the host for “Klein versus Groß” and “Who knows something like that?”.

SZ: Sport is…

Kai Pflaume: …an important part of my life.

Your current fitness level?

Could be a lot worse, but still a little bit better.

Rim upswing or stopover?

After a hearty stop for a break, the rim upswing goes almost by itself.

Physical education class was for you?

Even nicer than the long break.

Your personal record?

At the age of 14 I was vice city champion of Leipzig in table tennis.

Stadium visitors or TV athletes?

I love the atmosphere in the stadium and the slow motion on TV.

Bavaria or sixty?

Mia san Mia.

Your eternal sports idol?

Franz Beckenbauer.

A formative experience?

The lost final at home and the Champions League victory at Wembley Stadium a year later.

In which discipline would you be an Olympic champion?

Dad Jokes.

Which athlete would you like to swap jerseys with?

LeBron James.

Under the heading “Formality” the SZ asks people about their affinity for sport every week. Artists, politicians, captains of industry – just no athletes. It would be boring.
