Survival Against All Odds: The Remarkable Story of Olympique de Marseille’s ‘Minots’

On April 7, 1981, while OM were in the second division, the commercial court rendered its decision and ordered the liquidation of assets and legal settlement against the club. A real thunderbolt, the staff is placed on technical unemployment and the professional players, released. OM will however be saved thanks to those nicknamed the “Minots”: goalkeeper Marc Lévy, Christian Caminiti, Jacques Lopez, José Anigo, player-coach Roland Gransart, Eric Terrones (deceased in September 2019) , Michel Castellani and François Lapinta. They managed the feat of saving Olympique de Marseille by winning three victories and three draws, enough to stay in the second division the following season.
