Success at the National University Championships: Cus Genova and University of Genoa Bring Home More Medals in Judo Expedition

More medals for the expedition of Cus Genova and the University of Genoa to the National University Championships of Camerino 2023. The judo expedition, led by Mirco Mirengo, in fact obtained a gold, a silver and a bronze, which enrich the medal collection of Cus Genoa.

First of all the gold of Michela Piaggio, able to snatch the highest step on the podium in the -57 kg in the Genoese ‘derby’ against Isabella Rimondo, with Cus dominating the category. Bronze instead for Laura De Martino, in the -52 kg. Finally fifth place for Vanessa Ferruccio, conquered in the -63 kg.

These are the words of Michela Piaggio, a medical student and Pro Recco Judo athlete: “I am very satisfied. Let’s say that the result came after quite a few months of intense training, hard work and sacrifices, given that among I graduate in two weeks. So I’m very satisfied, I wanted to do well and the result has arrived. I’m also happy to have reached the final with my partner from Cus, perhaps the most difficult match of the competition. A good final and I thank the technician Mirco Mirengo for the support”.

This is the comment of Isabella Rimondo, student of Sport Sciences and athlete of Sharin Judo Savona: “It went well. Finally a good medal arrived after months of competitions that didn’t satisfy us so much, but the sacrifices paid off. The final we played it and I was pleased to fight with Michela, against whom we had never fought. I am satisfied with the match and I thank Mirco for these days”.

These are the words of Laura De Martino, a sports science student and athlete of Sharing Judo Savona: “The race itself went well, I wasn’t in my best shape. Let’s say it could have been better but I’m satisfied because I wasn’t trained like all the other times. First university medal and I certainly thank Mirco”.
