Stefon Diggs Returns to Buffalo Bills Minicamp After Absence Sparks Concern

Buffalo Bills wide receiver Stefon Diggs was at the team’s minicamp Wednesday, a day after missing the first mandatory practice session.

His absence caused a lot of talk yesterday. Team head coach Sean McDermott said he wouldn’t go into details but was “very worried” about it.

“We miss a player of his caliber, we would like him to be here,” McDermott added. “But in general, we are satisfied with the participation and the effort provided by our players. »

Diggs was at the team’s training facility on Monday after missing the entire voluntary practice schedule and had medical tests that day. He also met with McDermott and general manager Brandon Beane.

His agent, Adisa Bakari, had assured that Diggs “will be there during the entire minicamp”. The latter, however, left the training center before the start of practice on Tuesday.

Diggs’ use of social media lately suggests that he was potentially unhappy with his situation in Buffalo, without however openly confirming it.

Quarterback Josh Allen said he spoke with Diggs on Tuesday and said, “I’m sure we’ll have more discussions in the future, whether it’s between quarterback and receiver or with the offensive coordinator.”

Still, Allen and Von Miller have expressed affection and support for their teammate and downplayed his absence, arguing that he’s still very early in the NFL schedule.

“Maybe as an organization we’re not communicating the right way in all of this,” Allen admitted. “We will discuss and listen to him, then move forward in the most respectful way possible. »

The Bills’ minicamp will continue through Thursday.

The 29-year-old Diggs has spent the past three seasons in a Bills uniform, having started his career with the Vikings you Minnesota. He signed a four-year, $96 million contract extension last offseason.

Last season, the American recorded 1,429 yards on 108 receptions, in addition to registering 11 touchdowns. Diggs had a fifth straight season of 1,000+ receiving yards in 2022 despite his production declining in the second half.
