Soccer: Superstars in Saudi Arabia – for all the money in the world

An Wednesday, Saudi Arabian capital club Al-Nassr ended the season as it began: without Cristiano Ronaldo. While the world’s most famous Portuguese was still at Manchester United at the start of the season, he missed the end of the season, but the game was unimportant anyway. Al-Nassr had already missed the announced championship in the penultimate lap.

For a half-year fee of 100 million euros, Ronaldo has played a total of 19 games. That’s a good five million per gig, that’s okay. However, since his sensational arrival, he has lost his lead in the league. In the King’s Cup there was an end in the semi-finals, as well as in the Supercup. No wonder Nassr President Musalli al-Muammar allegedly quarreled with “Arabia News 50”: “I’ve only been ripped off twice in my life. The first time I ordered three kebabs but only got two delivered. The second time I signed Cristiano Ronaldo.”
