Singapore Open 2023: Leo/Daniel Eliminated by Malaysian Representatives

Leo Rolly Carnando/Daniel Marthin failed in the 2023 Singapore Open. The Indonesian men’s doubles were thrashed in the quarterfinals by Aaron Chia/Soh Wooi Yik with a score of 21-18, 16-21, 22-20.

The Singapore Open 2023 quarter-finals between Leo Rolly Carnando/Daniel Marthin vs Aaron Chia/Soh Wooi Yik took place at the Singapore Indoor Stadium, Friday (9/6/2023) afternoon WIB. The Indonesian doubles trailed 0-4 early in the first game.

Leo/Daniel then woke up and were able to turn around winning 8-7. Leo/Daniel strengthened themselves in the interval with an 11-10 advantage.

Aaron Chia/Soh Wooi Yik regained their lead with a score of 13-11. The points from the Malaysian pair stalled for a long time at 16 so they were overtaken by Leo Daniel, who led 20-16 to win the first game with a score of 21-18.

The second game was fierce from the start. Leo/Daniel and Aaron Chia/Soh Wooi Yik took turns gaining points. Leo/Daniel trailed 8-11 in the interval in the second game after Soh Wooi Yik’s smash failed to be contained.

Leo/Daniel had cut the gap to 10/11 after the interval. However, several mistakes by the Indonesian pair made Aaron Chia/Soh Wooi Yik able to widen the gap to 13-10.

Leo/Daniel gain momentum to overtake after being able to balance 16/16. Leo/Daniel failed to take advantage and lost in the second game after Aaron Chia/Soh Wooi Yik added five points in succession to become 21-16.

Aaron Chia/Soh Wooi Yik appeared ferocious in the third game despite being challenged by Leo/Daniel. Aaron Chia/Soh Wooi Yik were also able to lead in the interval with a score of 11-6.

Leo/Daniel got squashed when they were 16-20 behind. However, the pair were able to force the setting after leveling the score 20-20.

Leo worked hard to contain Aaron Chia/Soh Wooi Yik after Daniel fell. Even though they were able to return it several times, Le0/Daniel failed to turn ahead and the score changed to 20-21.

Aaron Chia/Soh Wooi Yik were finally able to advance to the semifinals. Soh Wooi managed to return the shuttlecock well. The third game was taken by the Malaysian pair with a score of 22-20.
